The United States Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends vaccination against meningococcal serogroups A, C, W, and Y for all 11- and 12-year-olds (with a booster dose at age 16) and against meningococcal serogroup B for 16- to 23-year-olds under shared clinical decision making. This study investigated knowledge, attitude, and practices among nurse practitioners and physician assistants regarding meningococcal vaccination. Although nurse practitioners and physician assistants play an important role in discussing and recommending vaccination, knowledge gaps regarding meningococcal disease and vaccination guidelines were identified. Targeted education may promote shared clinical decision making, improving access to meningococcal vaccination.
