Emily Bratlee-Whitaker, PhD, MS, RN, is a Senior Research Scientist in the Patient-Centered Outcomes Assessment group with RTI-HS. Dr. Bratlee-Whitaker has expertise in both qualitative and quantitative aspects of instrument design and evaluation. As a nurse, she has experience in a wide range of therapeutic areas and completed specialized training in gerontology, including the patient experience of cognitive problems. She has contributed to the development and evaluation of measures across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including, but not limited, to aesthetics, Alzheimer's disease, autoimmune disease, dermatology, eye conditions, liver disease, sexually transmitted diseases, and rare and genetic diseases. These measures include patient-reported outcomes (e.g., quality of life, disease burden, patient satisfaction, daily diaries), observer-reported outcomes, and commercial instruments. Dr. Bratlee-Whitaker routinely conducts qualitative interviews with clinical experts, patients, and caregivers, and develops analysis plans, reports, and publications. Some of her work has been published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, The Gerontologist, and Journals of Gerontology Series B: Psychological Sciences. She has served as a reviewer for the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, Issues in Mental Health Nursing, Gerontology, and Aging and Health Research, among others.
