James Twiss, PhD, is a Director of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Assessment group at RTI Health Solutions and has over 15 years of experience in patient-reported outcome (PRO) research. Before joining RTI-HS, he was involved principally in the development and use of PRO measures. His previous experience includes managing large international projects, leading with psychometric analysis and improving methodological approaches in PRO research.
James has a wide range of experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies used in PRO research. He has a particular interest in psychometric evaluation including the application of item response theory. He has worked in a large number of therapeutic areas including asthma, COPD, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis', atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, intestinal failure, neurofibromatosis, pulmonary hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and adult growth hormone deficiency.
He has presented at a number of international conferences and has published widely on the work he has collaborated on in high quality peer-reviewed journals including Value in Health, Quality of Life Research, Health and Quality of Life Outcomes, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatology International.
