Manel Pladevall-Vila, MD, MS, is a Senior Director of Epidemiology at RTI-HS. Dr. Pladevall-Vila has more than 29 years’ experience in research epidemiology in Europe and North America and 18 years’ experience as a clinician specializing in hypertension and other cardiovascular risk factors, such as diabetes. He has over 12 years’ experience in the field of pharmacoepidemiology including leading multidata source postauthorization safety studies (PASS). He has led research projects involving population-based surveys, registries, and field and automated database studies, including Spanish primary care data sources. He has been involved in epidemiological studies and clinical trials as well as systematic reviews. Before joining RTI Health Solutions, Dr. Pladevall-Vila received and completed research grants from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in the USA, the Spanish and Catalan governments, and several pharmaceutical companies.
