Sandra Talbird, MSPH, is Executive Director of Health Economics at RTI-HS. Her experience at RTI-HS includes designing and programming decision analytic economic models, including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, cost-benefit, and budget-impact models, using Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications. She has also developed mathematical models including compartmental dynamic transmission models for infectious diseases and linear programs in various software packages. She has extensive experience in preparing submissions to health technology assessment bodies in a variety of countries.
Ms. Talbird's primary research focus has been in infectious disease and vaccines, including treatment and prevention strategies for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes zoster, seasonal influenza, malaria, meningococcal disease, herpes zoster, pertussis, pneumococcal disease, respiratory syncytial virus, tetanus, and varicella. Other therapeutic areas include neurodegenerative conditions, oncology, women's reproductive health, and rare genetic diseases.
Ms. Talbird is an active member of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. She regularly participates as abstract reviewer, participates in the Rare Disease Special Interest Group, and is a primary reviewer for the Economic Evaluation of Vaccines Task Force. Her research has been presented at various professional conferences and published in several peer-reviewed journals, including AIDS, HIV Medicine, Pharmacoeconomics, American Journal of Preventative Medicine, American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, Value in Health, Vaccine and Pediatrics.
